TEDX DREAM TRIBE

I was invited by the TEDx Bend team to develop a series of interactive art installations for use before and during the conference. Over the course of two months, we designed and fabricated four unique pieces.

DESIGNED FOR TEDX, BEND ROLE: DESIGN LEAD / ART DIRECTOR

“DREAM FORWARD”

The theme for the event was “Dream Forward”, which encouraged exploration of the road ahead, musings about future technology, and commentary on the mysteries of human consciousness itself.

SCOPE AND CONSIDERATIONS

INTUITIVE & ACCESSIBLE

No matter the concept, it was vital the installation be intuitive, easy to interact with, and accessible to all.

MOBILE & PORTABLE

We needed to be able to break down and set up the installations quickly and with minimal tools.

FUN & VIBRANT

As features in the lobbies and showcased on the stage of the event itself, color and energy were important.

INSPIRATION IMAGES

ARTIST STATEMENT

“Drawing inspiration from traditional "dream catchers”, we set out to create a series of interactive sculptures that inspire the viewer to connect emotions, challenges, and goals, conceptualizing in form the links between seemingly unrelated elements of life. Further still, as the artists themselves work through the challenges of completing the piece, they begin to exemplify the sort of tension and release that propels us into new realms. It often requires courage and vision to overcome obstacles and reach goals. By daring to dream in new languages, learning new skills and embracing our weaknesses we drive ever forward. Each completed work is, in practice and in purpose, a representation of the connections we have to each other, our thoughts, and our experiences.”
